Hero MotoCorp is working on the production version of the Hero XF3R in India, according to a report from NewsX. The world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer is known for its low-capacity entry-level commuter bikes but the lucrative and highly growing premium performance motorcycle segment is the next fort it is out to capture.

The production version of the Hero XF3R Concept could use a conventional swingarm and a slightly mellowed down design.

While there are no details on the launch timeframe, we don't expect the motorcycle to come before 2020. The Hero XF3R Concept debuted in India at the 2016 Auto Expo. The next big-ticket offerings from the company are the Hero XPulse 200 adventure bike and the XPulse 200T tourer.

A report dated 12 September, claimed that Hero MotoCorp is planning to launch four new premium motorcycles in the domestic market. While the Xtreme 200R, XPulse 200 and 200T are confirmed as part of this plan, the fourth bike could be a naked roadster based on the Hero XF3R Concept. Logically more models would follow on the 300cc platform.

A 22 January report claimed that Hero MotoCorp had started development of the production XF3R Concept. The motorcycle is expected to offer top-notch quality at an attractive price.

The design of the production model is unlikely to stray from the concept bike. We can expect the motorcycle to feature a bikini fairing with an LED headlight, a sculpted fuel tank, digital instrument cluster and a raised tail section with slot headlights. The Hero XF3R Concept featured a single-sided swingarm, which is most likely to be replaced with a conventional unit. However, the upside-down forks could be retained. ABS will be standard while stopping power will come from disc brakes at the front and back.

The production-spec Hero XF3R will use an all-new 300cc, liquid-cooled motor. While power figures aren't revealed, it could develop around 30 bhp and 30 Nm, respectively.

The XF3R Concept employs a 300 cc, DOHC liquid-cooled engine with fuel injection that is paired to a six-speed transmission. While the final numbers are unknown, it is expected to produce power & torque in the ballpark of 30 bhp & 30 Nm respectively. The Hero XF3R will rival the BMW G 310 R, KTM 390 Duke, Bajaj Dominar 400 and the Benelli TNT 300.
