Now officially out, the Tata Harrier is undergoing final testing with minimal camouflage, a spy shot posted by RushLane has revealed.
The Tata Harrier is the highly anticipated Tata H5X concept from Auto Expo 2018 in its production form. The road-ready model looks quite close to the concept, just like the company’s Head of Design Pratap Bose had promised by saying that about 80-85% of the concept is on its way into the production model.
The Tata Harrier sits on a new ‘OmegaArc’ platform, which is derived from the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque’s D8 platform. The five-seater monocoque SUV is the first production model to sport the IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy. It is expected to slot above the Tata Hexa as the brand’s flagship model.
The Tata Harrier will come with FCA’s 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine that delivers a maximum power of 140 PS. It carries ‘Kryotec’ branding, not MultiJet II, though. A 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission will send power to the front wheels. Hyundai will supply the latter for this model. An AWD system is not expected.
The Tata Harrier entered series production commenced on 30 October, 2018. It rolls out from an all-new assembly line at the Pune plant. This assembly line was built in a record time of 6 months and boasting 90% automation levels.

Interested customers can now officially pre-book their Tata Harrier online or at a dealership, for an amount of INR 30,000. The media drive is scheduled to take place at the beginning of December, and the launch will follow a month later.
