The Mahindra Marazzo, which went on sale on 3 September, has posted 3,810 units (wholesale) in October 2018. This is a healthy growth of 35% over the 2,829 units that the company dispatched to its dealerships in September.
Thanks to this strong start, the Mahindra Marazzo has become the third largest selling model in the portfolio after the Bolero (8,527 units) and Scorpio (4,357). Last month, IAB learnt that the burgeoning demand for the new MPV has led to a waiting period of up to 45 days on select variants.
Mahindra & Mahindra is said to be aiming at a monthly volume of 4,000 units of the Marazzo. Furthermore, the company is prepared to ramp up the production to 7,000 units a month next financial year in case the demand persists.
Powering the Mahindra Marazzo is a 1.5-litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 121 hp @ 3,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 300 Nm between 1,750 & 2,500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Underpinning the company's MPV is a ladder-frame chassis. That said, the new model features a transversely mounted engine. The one-of-a-kind architecture helps the MPV achieve the robustness of a frame construction along with low ride height and a flat floor that are the general characteristics of monocoque construction.
