Gaadiwaadi reports that the diesel variant of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga offers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 25.47 km/l. This is an improvement of almost 1 km/l over the outgoing model's figure of 24.52 km/l. The all-new K15B 1.5-litre engine-equipped version offers an ARAI-rated 19.34 km/l with the 5-speed manual transmission and 17.5 km/l with the 4-speed auto unit. In comparison, the outgoing model's K14B 1.4-litre motor delivers 17.5 km/l with the manual and 17.03 km/l with the automatic transmission.

It's noteworthy that both petrol and diesel variants of the new Ertiga feature the company's SHVS mild-hybrid technology. The combination of idle start-stop feature and brake energy regeneration has undoubtedly helped the manufacturer optimise the fuel efficiency. Another reason for the stellar frugality is the new model's Heartect platform. Made mostly of ultra-high-tensile steel, the modern architecture keeps the kerb weight under a check.

The second generation model of the company's popular MPV (avg. monthly sales of 3,786 units*) looks more upmarket and has a larger cabin. Its new petrol engine, which made its Indian debut on the facelifted Maruti Ciaz outputs a maximum power of 104.7 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm. This is nearly 11 PS and 8 Nm higher than the performance figures of the previous generation model's K14B 1.4-litre motor. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and the older 4-speed automatic.

The diesel variant continues to be powered by the D13A 1.3-litre diesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and outputs a maximum power of 89.74 PS and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The 2018 Maruti Ertiga will available at the company's Arena dealership network in four grades - L, V, Z, and Z+. Standard equipment on all trim levels are ABS with EBD, Dual front airbags, Isofix child seat mounts, Speed sensitive door locks, Rear parking sensors, and Central locking.
