Nissan Terrano production discontinued - Report

As per Team-BHP, production of the Nissan Terrano has been halted at the Renault-Nissan Alliance facility in Oragadam, Chennai. The Renault Duster-based SUV was on sale in a price range of  INR 10.0 - 14.65 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Gurgaon).

The mid-cycle facelift for the Nissan Terrano brought in a new Sandstone Brown exterior paint shade, L-shaped LED DRLs, ORVM-mounted turn indicators, and new chrome appliques.

The Nissan Terrano was launched in October 2013 and received a mid-cycle facelift in May 2017. While it had a fairly decent start, with the registration of 6,000 bookings in little more than a month of its commencement, the SUV failed to sustain the demand. Currently, its monthly sales average stands at a rather dismal 122 units (from March 2018 to August 2018).

The petrol variant of the Nissan Terrano came with a 1.6-litre K4M engine that outputs a maximum power of 103 bhp @ 5,850 rpm and a peak torque of 148 Nm @ 3,750 rpm. The motor comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Diesel models were powered by the 1.5-litre K9K turbocharged motor. For the XE and XL variants, the diesel engine produces a maximum power of 83.14 bhp @ 3750rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm @ 1,900 rpm. It comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The top-end XV trim gets a more powerful version of the oil-burner, which produces a maximum power of 108.5bhp @ 3900 rpm and a peak torque of 245 Nm @ 3750rpm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT.

Nissan India is preparing to unveil the Indian version of the Nissan Kicks, The new model will share its low-cost B0 platform with the Terrano and will be sold with the same engines as the Renault Duster. These include the 1.5-litre H4K petrol engine mated to a 5-speed MT or a CVT, and the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that is paired with a 6-speed MT or an AMT.

The Nissan Kicks will launch in India in January 2019. Prices are expected to start at INR 9.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
