The 2018 Honda Amaze, which was launched in India on 22 May 2018, has crossed the 50,000 sales milestone in 5 months of its launch. The latest iteration of the company's sub-4-meter sedan has been contributing 50% of total sales clocked by Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) during April – Sept 2018 period.
The 2018 Honda Amaze has become the fastest model from HCIL to clock 50,000 sales. As per the manufacturer, the Maruti Dzire rival has attracted more than 20% first-time car buyers. 40% of its sales come from Tier 1 cities, while Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities account for 30% each.

The overall concept of All New Amaze was to develop a one-class-above sedan for Indian family use that exceeds the expectations of customers in the compact sedan segment. The response to the car with 50,000 sales in 5 months is overwhelming. The advanced CVT technology has found very strong acceptance among customers with 30% of Amaze customers opting for automatic variants in petrol and diesel.
In August, HCIL revealed that the automatic version of the new Amaze accounts for more than 30% of total sales. It may be noted here that the latest version of the company's compact sedan is the first mainstream model to offer optional CVT with both petrol and diesel engines.
Powering the petrol variants of the 2018 Honda Amaze is a 1.2-litre iVTEC four-cylinder naturally aspirated motor that produces 90 PS and 110 Nm. The diesel versions draw power from a 1.5-litre iDTEC four-cylinder turbocharged unit. The oil-burner outputs a maximum power of 100 PS and a peak torque of 200 Nm with the manual transmission. It offers 80 PS & 160 Nm with the CVT.
Other than the Maruti Dzire, the 2018 Honda Amaze rivals the Ford Aspire, Hyundai Xcent, and VW Ameo. All trims offer dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and BA (brake assist) and reverse parking sensors as a part of the standard equipment list.
