North American full-size SUVs tend to feel out of place in Europe with the most recent case being the VW Atlas (VW Teramont). In the latest, Kia has ruled out the Telluride for the Old Continent.
In January this year, Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer, Kia Motors Europe, told Go Auto that the Kia Telluride “doesn’t make that much sense” He suggested that the Sorento is big enough in Europe. Now, speaking to The Korean Car Blog, Emilio Herrera, CEO, Kia Motors Europe, has confirmed that there’s no plan to launch this model in the region.
Dimensions of the production Kia Telluride, which debuted at the New York Fashion Week this month, aren’t out yet. The concept version is 5,000 mm long, 2,010 mm wide and 1,800 high. It has a 3,081 mm wheelbase. Such models are deemed too big for Europe, where they won’t fit in many garages.
Penned at the U.S. design studio, the Kia Telluride is several inches longer and wider than the Kia Sorento mid-size SUV. It seats eight people and employs a new V6 engine, which the company won’t reveal just yet. The official debut will take place at the 2019 North American International Auto Show in January.

The Kia Telluride has absolutely no relevance to the Indian market and like its chief rival VW Atlas, it is a left-hand-drive-only model. Kia Motors will enter our market with a Kia SP Concept-based Hyundai Creta rival in the second quarter of 2019.
