Now, a new report from Team-BHP suggests that the Indian arm of the South Korean manufacturer is targeting sales of 10,000 units per month from the new model. Launching the car during the festive season should help the company get a push up in sales.

The carmaker reported cumulative sales of 61,912 units in August 2018 against 59,905 units in the corresponding month last year, registering a growth of 3.4 percent. While the year-on-year exports for the month grew by 25.8 percent, domestic sales witnessed a fall of 2.8 percent, partly due to the situation in Kerala. The total domestic sales fell from 47,103 units in August 2017 to 45,801 in August 2018. Meanwhile, as announced by Hyundai in its press release, Grand i10, Elite i20 and the Creta continue to clock over 10,000 units a month consistently.

The Hyundai AH2 will be reportedly exported as the Hyundai Atos from Q1 2019 to markets such as South Africa.

In India the hatchback will reportedly bring back the 'Santro' moniker after a majority of respondents of 'Hyundai naamkaran' initiative voted for this name. The vehicle will replace Eon and compete against base cars like Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Tata Tiago, and Renault Kwid.

The 2018 Hyundai Santro is reportedly based on an advanced version of the Hyundai HA platform that supported the previous generation i10. Regarding dimensions, it will be smaller than the Grand i10.

In September, IAB reader spotted a test mule of the upcoming vehicle with ‘Star Dust’ paint. The colour option is currently available on the Grand i10, Xcent, Verna, and Creta models.

Mechanical specification for the Hyundai Santro will reportedly include a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine. The engine will be available with an optional automated manual transmission (AMT).

The safety net of dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and seat belt reminder will come as standard. Other safety features will include a manual override for central locking system, speed alert system, and rear parking sensors.
