The Brazilian made facelifted Ford Ka Sedan (Brazilian Ford Aspire) that went on sale in June this year was crash-tested by Latin NCAP recently, in which it received a 3-star rating.

With a score of 22.83 out of maximum 34.00, the 2018 Ford Ka Sedan has received a 3-star rating in adult occupant protection. In child occupant protection, though, it has received a better, 4-star rating (35.41 out of maximum 49.00).

Latin NCAP notes that the new Ford Ka Sedan has a stable passenger compartment structure, but the knees of the driver and front passenger get only average protection because of dangerous structures in the area of the board against which they could impact. This is from the frontal impact test, in which the Uruguay-based agency has given a rating of 11.54 points out of maximum 16.00 points. In the lateral impact test, it has given a rating of 10.80 points out of maximum 16.00 points.

The Camacari-made Ford Ka Sedan tested by Latin NCAP was equipped with dual-front airbags, driver and front passenger seatbelt pretensions, driver seatbelt reminder, ABS and ISOFIX child-seat mounts, which are included across the range. The top-of-the-line configuration features two side airbags, two curtain airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control System (TCS) and Hill Launch Assist (HLA) as well. The same is the case in the Indian-spec model.

While the two have similarities, the Brazilian-spec Ford Ka Sedan is 280 mm longer than the Indian-spec Ford Aspire. It offers 445 litres of boot space, 86 litres more than the latter. There are two engine options: 1.0L flex-fuel and 1.5L flex-fuel. The 1.0L unit produces up to 85 CV (85 PS) and up to 105 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.5L unit develops up to 136 CV (136 PS) and up to 158 Nm of torque. It is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

In India, the facelifted Ford Aspire has started reaching dealerships, and it will go on sale on 4 October, 2018.
