It is not unusual for automakers to showcase eccentric concepts that are just attention-seekers and never meant for production, at motor shows. At Suzuki’s GIIAS 2018 booth, one such model was a 2018 Suzuki Ertiga with a Batik motif.

The 2018 Suzuki Ertiga with Batik motif is only a show model.

Batik's roots lie deep in the Indonesian culture. It is a traditional art-form involving the usage of wax and dye for creating intricate patterns on cloth. Batik is regarded as both formal and casual wear in Indonesia, and Suzuki is similarly showcasing the Ertiga’s everyday practicality along with style by applying this wrapping on its body.

The second generation Suzuki Ertiga is underpinned by Suzuki’s Heartect platform and is powered by a newly-developed K15B engine. The 1.5-litre VVT naturally petrol mill develops 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. The 7-seat people mover is now 4,395 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,690 mm tall. It has a 180 mm ground clearance, and it offers 803 litres of luggage space. 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic are the transmission choices.

Suzuki Indomobil Sales sells the Ertiga with projector headlamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, LED rear combination lamps, passive keyless entry, engine start-stop button, 6.8-inch touchscreen multimedia system, beige upholstery, wood trim and roof-mounted air vents. Key safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP and ISOFIX child-seat anchorage points.
