The Honda Amaze CVT's demand has shot up with the rollout of the second generation model. The all-new 2018 Honda Amaze was launched on May 16 and retail sales of the compact sedan stood at 9,789 units last month.
Like the first-gen Honda Amaze, the second-gen Honda Amaze is available with a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. The petrol-diesel engine sales split is 64-36 % right now. There are four engine/transmission combinations now, as opposed to three before, thanks to the introduction of a CVT option in the diesel engine model. The MT-CVT split is 74-26 %.
The demand for the petrol-CVT configurations has increased significantly since the second-gen model's launch. This development was revealed by Rajesh Goel, Senior VP, Honda Cars India. Speaking to Autocar India, he said: "In the petrol volumes, the current booking trend for the petrol-CVT is 24 percent in comparison to the outgoing Amaze which was at 7 percent for the petrol variants.” Diesel-CVT configurations account for 11% of the total 2018 Honda Amaze bookings. Nearly one-third of the diesel engine model buyers opt for CVT.
The Honda Amaze recorded the highest-ever monthly sales for a Honda model in India in May 2018 selling 9,789 units. The car's sales grew by over six times from May 2017. Honda registered a total sales of 15,864 units in May 2018, recording a Y-o-Y growth of 41%.
The 2018 Honda Amaze is available in E, S, V and VX grades. There are total 12 configurations to choose from, 6 with the petrol engine and 6 powered by the diesel engine. Prices start at INR 5,59,900* (petrol)/INR 6,69,900* (diesel).
