2018 Maruti Swift sales reach 1 lakh units in just 145 days

The 2018 Maruti Swift has already clocked sales of 1,00,000 units. It took the hatchback just 145 days to find 1 lakh buyers making it the fastest car to reach that milestone. All three generations combined, Maruti has sold more than 1.89 million units of the Swift in India.

Maruti Suzuki opened bookings for the all-new Swift on January 18, 2018, followed by an official launch at the Auto Expo on February 8. 1,00,000 units in 145 days translate to 689-690 units per day. The Maruti Swift was able to register a booking every minute racking up 1 lakh orders in its first 10 weeks on sale.

As per an internal research by Maruti Suzuki, the biggest selling points of the Swift are its design, enhanced performance, safety features, and a strong brand legacy. In May 2018, the company sold 19,208 units of the Maruti Swift.

Maruti offers the Swift with 1.2 L K12B petrol and 1.3 L DDiS diesel engines. Both can be bought with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT. However, the AMT variants are not available in the entry-level LXi/LDi and the top-end ZXi+/ZDi+ grades. The Maruti Swift petrol has a power and torque output of 61 kW and 113 Nm while the diesel variant makes 55.2 kW and 190 Nm. As per the company's claims, the Swift diesel returns 28.4 km/l overall. The petrol variant has a claimed fuel efficiency of 22 km/l.

Safety features like dual front airbags, ABS, and ISOFIX child seat anchorage points are standard across all grades. In its fully-loaded form, the Maruti Swift comes with features like LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED stop lamps, 7-inch SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, automatic climate control, reverse parking sensors, reverse parking camera, keyless entry, and more.

The entry-level Maruti Swift LXi with a 1.2 L petrol engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox is priced at INR 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). Maruti Swift diesel range starts INR 5.99 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) onwards.
