The second generation Honda Amaze is set to go on sale in the Indian market on May 16. While HCIL is anticipating strong demand for the model and will ensure timely supply, the company is open to exporting the 2018 Honda Amaze to markets like South Africa.
Speaking to the Economic Times about the possibility of exporting the Amaze to foreign markets, Rajesh Goel, Sr Vice President & Director, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said -
In terms of exports we have been historically exporting to neighbouring countries and South Africa and some countries around South Africa. Depending on demand from the markets there we would be open to the markets there.
However, he did mention that the new Amaze has received an overwhelming response since bookings opened on April 6, 2018, and that he expects Honda to have its "hands full with the domestic market ". Honda's Tapukara facility in Rajasthan has been tasked with the production of the new Amaze.
The first generation Honda Amaze was introduced in April 2013. There are around 2.5 lakh units of the compact sedan on Indian roads, and while that is a fairly healthy figure, HCIL expects the new generation model to fare better. The increase in interior space, bolder styling, and addition of features coupled with the introduction of a diesel-CVT variant should help boost sales.

Honda will launch the Amaze in India with 1.2 L petrol and 1.5 L diesel engine options, both paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. It will be offered in E, S, V, and VX grades. Expect competitive pricing with entry-level petrol and diesel variants retailing for well under INR 6 lakhs and INR 7 lakhs respectively.
