Slated to arrive in August 2018, the second generation Ertiga will feature new petrol and diesel engines as per reports. A spy shot of the interior of 2018 Maruti Ertiga test mule shared by GaadiWaadi has revealed the presence of a 6-speed manual transmission in the upcoming MPV.

It is clear from the markings on the gear knob that the new Ertiga will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission.

As per the publication, the test mule is likely to be that of the diesel variant of the Ertiga, which will employ an all-new 1.5 L mill developed in-house by Suzuki. It will replace the current model's 1.3 L Fiat-sourced Multijet diesel engine that is set to be phased out by 2020 with the arrival of BSVI emissions regulations. As evident from the image, this new engine will pair with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Accompanying the new diesel engine will be a new 1.5 L K15B petrol engine. It replaces the current 1.4 L unit. As per the specifications shared by Suzuki Indonesia, the engine churns out 104.7 PS of max power and 138 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic handle transmission duties.

While this is the first published spy shot of the interior of the India-spec 2018 Maruti Ertiga, the car has already been fully revealed. The 2018 Suzuki Ertiga debuted at IIMS 2018 on April 19 and entered production in Indonesia a few days later.

At 4,395 mm in long, 1,735 mm wide, and 1,690 mm tall, the new Ertiga is bigger than the outgoing model. Along with increased cabin space, the new Ertiga will also bring with it new, premium features. The spy shot reveals the addition of automatic climate control. This feature is missing from the current model's equipment list. As per a report from October 2017, the sales of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga could move to Nexa outlets meant for the company's premium offerings.

Currently, the Maruti Ertiga retails in the INR 6.34-10.69 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) price bracket. Pricing, especially that of the top-end Z and Z+ grades, is likely to go up. The 2018 Maruti Ertiga, as per estimates, will cost around INR 7-11 lakhs (ex-showroom).
