The third generation Toyota Auris (Toyota Corolla hatchback) debuted at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show last month. Based on that, automotive illustrator Klebar Silva has created renderings to preview the next-gen Toyota Corolla Altis’ expected design.

The outgoing Toyota Auris (Toyota Corolla hatchback) and the current Toyota Corolla Altis have a very different design. However, the speculative renderings show the next-gen Toyota Corolla Altis matching almost completely to the hatchback it will evolve from. It looks notably sportier than the current model and ready to go for the tenth-gen Honda Civic.

The next-gen Toyota Corolla Altis will ride on the TNGA platform and may have a slightly longer, wider and lower body. A longer wheelbase may take up most or all of the increased length. Toyota has confirmed that it will phase out diesel engines in its passenger cars in Europe this year. So, it is highly unlikely that the twelfth-gen Toyota Corolla Altis range will include a diesel engine option.

Instead of a diesel option, Toyota may offer a hybrid option in the next-gen Toyota Corolla Altis globally, possibly the latest Toyota Auris’ 90 kW (122 PS) 1.8-litre powertrain or 132 kW (180 PS) 2.0-litre powertrain. The latter is a TNGA-based unit. The expected conventional petrol engine is the new TNGA-based M20A-FKS 2.0-litre Dynamic-Force naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit that was recently announced for the U.S.-spec all-new Toyota Corolla Hatchback.
