Updated KTM 1290 Super Duke R spied

The updated version of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R has been spotted testing in Europe. As per MCN, the updated KTM 1290 Super Duke is likely to be unveiled at the 2019 EICMA show and may be launched in Europe by the spring season of 2020. It would lock horns with the Yamaha MT-10, and the Ducati Monster 1200R.

MCN reports that the bike may have a new engine to comply with the Euro V norms that will go into effect in January 2020. To balance power and thermal efficiency, the bike has a larger radiator. At present, the Super Duke generates 177 hp of power and 141 Nm of torque. KTM seems to have redesigned the trellis frame, the tail section. MCN reports that they have used a box-section aluminium tail sub frame.

The current-gen bike has multiple rider modes, cornering ABS, Supermoto mode, traction control and cruise control.

As per the website, the test mule features a monoshock with linkage, whereas the current Super Duke R employs directly-articulated WP monoshock. The alloy wheel design is similar to the current generation bike. The new swingarm reportedly has superior braces near the linkage for better stiffness. The exhaust pipe layout is new, with the catalytic converter located around the underbelly area.
