TRD variant of the India-bound Toyota Yaris unveiled at Bangkok Motor Show

Toyota has unveiled the TRD variant of the Toyota Yaris Ativ, which is known as Toyota Yaris in India, at the 2018 Bangkok Motor Show.

Toyota has fitted the Toyota Yaris TRD with a number of sporty body parts for a more dynamic styling. The TRD variant has underbody spoilers with red accents at the front and rear, thicker fog lamp surrounds at the front, side skirts, black bumper valance at the rear and black trunk lid spoiler. Strangely, the alloy wheels are the same as that of the regular Toyota Yaris Ativ.

The Toyota Yaris Ativ TRD is based on the Toyota Yaris Ativ S. It runs the 3NR-FE 1.2-litre Dual VVT-i engine coupled to a continuously variable transmission. The four-cylinder petrol engine produces 86 PS at 6,000 rpm and 108 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.

Rumour has it Toyota will sell limited units of the Toyota Yaris Ativ TRD in the same specifications as those of the display model at BIMS 2018 for two months. After that, it will offer the parts separately for retrofitting. In India, the regular Toyota Yaris' market launch will take place in the coming weeks.
