The Vios will compete with the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Honda City in India.

The India-bound Toyota Vios is actually the low-cost Toyota Yaris Ativ and not the actual Toyota Vios. This model is 4,425 mm long, 1,730 mm wide and 1,475 mm tall. It has a 2,550 mm wheelbase. The internationally available version has a 133 mm ground clearance, but the Indian-spec version should offer more ground clearance to better tackle our poor roads.

The Indian-spec Toyota Vios is expected to get draw power from a 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine that produces 105 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. The basic configurations are likely to have a 5-speed manual transmission and the high-end configurations should get a CVT. The latter is expected to feature a dual-tone interior with a black dashboard and beige upholstery.

The Toyota Vios will go on sale in India in April this year.
