With the mid-cycle update, Hyundai will replace the 4-speed manual transmission with a continuously variable transmission in the Hyundai i20 in India.

The new Hyundai i20 incorporates the brand’s latest signature design elements. At the front, the facelift brings the new Cascading grille with a honeycomb mesh pattern and remodeled bumper. Other changes could include revisions to the fog lamps and the headlamp graphics.

At the rear, the updated Hyundai i20 has new tail lamp graphics reminiscent of the Hyundai i30, redesigned tailgate and remodelled bumper. Hyundai has repositioned the license plate from the bumper to the tailgate. Inside, the new model has reduced number of buttons flanking the touchscreen infotainment system and chrome trim on the central air vents.

The current Hyundai i20 is available with 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol, 1.4-litre Dual VTVT petrol and 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel engines. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the 1.4-litre petrol engine sends power to the wheels via a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 1.4-litre diesel engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

With the mid-cycle update, Hyundai will discontinue the 1.4-litre petrol engine and the 4-speed automatic transmission. In place of the latter, the company will introduce a CVT option in the 1.2-litre petrol engine model.
