Husqvarna aims to woo the cafe racer crowd with the Vitpilen 701.

The detailed pictures of the bike reveals more details of its design. The bike follows a minimalistic cafe racer-esque design. The motorcycle features clip-on handlebars and rear set footpegs for sporty riding position. The single-piece seat in this test mule comes with a pillion cowl, and the stubby tail houses the LED tail light. The indicators and the circular headlamp are LED as well. The circular digital instrument cluster complements the bike’s neo-retro feel nicely. The switchgear is pretty standard, and is devoid of buttons for electronic trickery. There’s also a distinct asymmetrical design line that runs on top of the fuel tank.

The rear indicators and the licence plate are mounted on the tyre hugger, thus giving the tail section a clean look. The Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 shares its powerplant with the Husqvarna 701 Supermoto and the Husqvarna 701 Enduro. The powerplant is a 66.6 PS, 690cc single cylinder unit with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The transmission is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

The slash-cut upswept exhaust is similar to the one in the concept bike.

The front end features a WP inverted fork and the rear is a monoshock unit. A single disc at both front and rear with twin-channel ABS handle the braking responsibility. The alloy wheels seem lifted from the concept motorcycle; and are shod with Bridgestone tyres.

The concept version of the bike was showcased at the 2015 EICMA show. Its scrambler cousin, the Svartpilen 701, was spied in May, this year. Husqvarna will likely showcase the production-ready motorcycle at this year’s EICMA show in November. Bajaj has already confirmed that it would manufacture Husqvarna motorcycles in India from late next year.
