New Suzuki Swift heading into Thailand with Dualjet engine in Q1 2018 - Report

Thailand will get the new Suzuki Swift in the first quarter of 2018 reports Headlight Magazine. The 2017 Suzuki Swift was unveiled in Japan in December 2016 followed by its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. The first prototypes of the new Swift were seen on Thai roads this year.

The report states that the new Suzuki Swift will be powered by a 1.2 L DualJet petrol engine producing a max power of 91 PS at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 118 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT.

The new Swift is based on Suzuki's HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Ignis and Baleno. It measures 3,840 mm in long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,500 mm tall riding on a 2,450 mm long wheelbase. Compared to the outgoing model, it is 10 mm shorter in overall length, 10 mm shorter in height and has a 20 mm longer wheelbase, while the width is identical.

In India, the new Maruti Swift will make its debut at the upcoming Auto Expo on February 9, 2018. It will be manufactured at Suzuki's facility in Gujarat according to a report. Engine options will include the existing 1.2 L K12C petrol and 1.3 L DDiS diesel engines. Both petrol and diesel variants are likely to get an option 5-speed AMT this time around.
