With the end of the current calendar year fast approaching, car manufacturers will be looking to clear stocks of MY 2017 units. India's largest selling car maker Maruti Suzuki is offering discounts of up to INR 1 lakh on some of its models.
The Ciaz is being offered with total benefits of INR 1 lakh on the diesel variants. This includes an INR 40,000 cash discount, INR 50,000 exchange bonus plus an INR 10,000 corporate discount. The Maruti Ciaz diesel, especially in markets like Delhi, was hit hard by the rollout of GST. In Delhi, it lost the VAT benefit on its price resulting in a major hike in prices. Petrol variants are available with a total discount of INR 80,000, which includes a 20,000 Rupee cash discount component along with 50,000 exchange bonus and 10,000 corporate discount.
The other MSIL product that had to bear the brunt of increased taxation was the Maruti Ertiga diesel. It is currently being offered with an INR 20,000 cash discount, INR 45,000 exchange bonus, and a corporate discount of INR 5,100 amounting to total benefits of INR 71,000. Petrol and CNG variants have the same exchange and corporate benefits but only an INR 5,000 cash discount.
A-segment hatchbacks Wagon R and Celerio can be bought with total benefits amounting to INR 60,000 and INR 58,000 respectively. The discount on the Maruti Wagon R comprises a 30,000 Rupee cash component along with a 25,000 Rupee exchange bonus and a 5,000 Rupee cash discount.
The INR 58,000 benefit is applicable on the Maruti Celerio AMT split into a cash discount of INR 29,000, exchange bonus of INR 24,000, and a corporate discount of INR 5,000. The manual transmission variants of the Celerio gets the same corporate discount but a lower exchange bonus and cash discount of INR 19,000 and INR 25,000 respectively. These benefits are applicable only on the pre-facelift model of the Celerio. Maruti Celerio facelift is on offer with a total discount of up to INR 39,000
The soon to be phased out Maruti Swift can be bought for INR 40,000-45,000 off on its sticker price. Diesel and petrol variants get a 20,000 exchange bonus and a 5,000 corporate discount along with cash benefits of INR 20,000 and INR 15,000 respectively.

The Maruti Alto 800 enjoys benefits of up to INR 50,000 (INR 20,000 cash discount, INR 25,000 exchange bonus, and INR 5,000 corporate discount). Maruti is offering the Alto K10 with an exchange bonus of INR 20,000 and a corporate discount of INR 5,000 coupled with a cash discount of INR 17,000 and INR 22,000 for manual and AMT variants respectively.
