Although the company had confirmed the XUV500 facelift's launch for 2017, multiple reports indicate that it will arrive only in early 2018.

Spied for the first time last week, the updated XUV500 is likely to feature design revisions to the exterior accompanied by changes to the interior upholstery and colour scheme. So far, only fully camouflaged test mules have been spotted. So, it is hard to pinpoint the exact changes the SUV will get. However, last week's spy pictures do reveal new Mahindra XUV Aero Concept like 10-spoke alloy wheels.

The 2.2 L mHawk diesel will be carried over albeit with a bump up in power and torque outputs. According to reports, the engine will be retuned to produce 170 hp and around 400 Nm of torque. 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes will continue to handle transmission duties. The company's plans, according to a report, include the introduction of a petrol variant equipped with a 2.2 L engine.
