A report in June said that Toyota would launch the next-gen Toyota Rush in Indonesia in 2018. Indonesia-based RBA Design (by Raditya Brahmanah?) has created a rendering of the 2018 Toyota Rush to preview its expected design.

RBA design has created the next-gen Toyota Rush's rendering on the basis of the Daihatsu DN-TREC concept.

The Toyota Rush is essentially a Daihatsu Be-go that debuted in 2005. Toyota launched the mini-SUV in Japan back in 2006 and discontinued it in March 2016. Daihatsu has hinted at a new mini crossover/mini-SUV model with the Daihatsu DN TREC concept. The next-gen Toyota Rush in the rendering is a longer version of this concept, featuring chrome in place of the concept’s red highlights in all places except the grille, conventional front fog lamps, smaller wheels and production-oriented ORVMs.

Details about the next-gen Toyota Rush are unknown. Like the first generation model, the second generation model could have standard and long-wheelbase versions, and 5- and 7-seat seating layout options. Toyota could target the 7-seat version at emerging markets such as Indonesia and Malaysia, pitching it as a more value-for-money offering. The current model, which has a semi-monocoque chassis is powered by the 3SZ-VE 1.5-litre VVT-i engine under the hood. This four-cylinder petrol mill produces 109 PS and 141 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 4-speed manual and 5-speed automatic. The engine sends the drive to the rear wheels or all four wheels.
