Isuzu Motor introduced the second-gen Isuzu D-Max in September 2011 and gave it a facelift in 2015. Now, the company is working on yet another minor change for the pickup truck to be launched next month, reports Headlight Magazine.
The Thai report suggests that the new Isuzu D-Max will have visual changes at the front and new colour choices. Customers are expecting an improvement in the pickup truck’s passive safety. Internationally, the current D-Max’s main passive safety feature is its six airbags. The list of active safety features, however, is quite long. It includes DRLs, reversing camera, ABS with EBD and BA, ESC, TCS, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.
The Isuzu D-Max is available with two engine options in Thailand: 1.9-litre VGS Turbo and 3.0-litre VGS Turbo. The 1.9L diesel engine produces 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque. It is paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 3.0L diesel engine develops 177 hp and 380 nm of torque. It sends power to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. A new engine, which rumours say is a 2.4-litre unit, may replace this motor in 2018.
Isuzu could announce prices of the 2018 Isuzu D-Max at the 2017 Thai Motor Expo that will open on 29 November. The Isuzu D-Max rivalling Toyota Hilux will also reportedly receive a facelift next month.
