The Ford Ka has performed poorly in the latest round of Latin NCAP crash testing. It performed poorly in the side impact protection test earning it a zero star rating. The Ford Ka earned a 3-star rating safety rating for child occupants and zero stars for adult occupants.
Frontal crash testing carried out in November 2015 earned the Ford Ka a 4-star rating. However, under Latin NCAP's new crash test protocols (2016) an additional side impact test was conducted in which the car fared poorly. The official Latin NCAP website said -
The Ka performed poorly in the side impact test, showing high levels of injuries in the adult chest, high B-pillar intrusion in the occupant compartment and a door opening. The Ka did not offer side impact energy absorption devices in its structure and in its inner door panel.

Apparently, the recent poor performance of the Ford Ka means that it would fail to pass the United Nations basic impact protection regulation (UN95), mandatory in Europe since 1995. The child occupants of the Ford Ka showed acceptable levels of protection earning the car 3-stars Latin NCAP's report added.
