2017 Triumph Street Triple RS India launch soon

Triumph Motorcycles India’s official twitter handle has tweeted a video teaser of what appears to be the Triumph Street Triple RS.

The video ends saying ‘Live launch coming soon’. Triumph had launched the Street Triple S in the country in June. The Street Triple RS when launched, will be the top-end variant under the Street Triple category. The Street Triple RS features better cycle parts, and the engine is tuned for more power as well.

Powering the 2017 Street Triple RS is a 765cc in-line three-cylinder DOHC engine with liquid cooling. In the UK market, the powerplant puts out 123 PS of power at 11,700 rpm and 77 Nm of torque at 10,800 rpm. The engine mates with a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch and quick shifter. The bike makes 10 PS and 4 Nm more than the Street Triple S in India.

Suspension components include adjustable front Showa 41mm upside down big piston forks (BPF); and adjustable Ohlins STX40 rear monoshock. The motorcycle comes to a halt using twin 310 mm front discs with Brembo 4-piston radial callipers; and a 220 mm rear disc with Brembo single-piston calliper.

The Street Triple RS features five riding modes - Sport, Road, Rain, Rider and Track. Switchable ABS and traction control are standard as well. The bike also features a 5-inch customisable TFT display with a high-spec on-board computer. There’s a new switchgear with 5-way joystick control for menu navigation and self-cancelling indicators.

While the Street Triple S costs INR 8.5 lakhs, ex-showroom, expect the RS variant to command a premium of around INR 1.5 lakhs. In the UK market, the motorcycle costs GBP 8,900 OTR. The Street Triple RS would rival with Kawasaki Z900 and Ducati Monster 797 in its segment in India.
