Another interesting concept Smart showcased at the IAA 2017 was the Smart ForFour Brabus Forrescue. It gives an idea of a beach patrol and rescue Smart ForFour, which explains why the debut was set last June in Palou, Spain.

Brabus has made a few upgrades to better suit its purpose. The car rides on chunky off-road tires shedding 16-inch Brabus alloy rims, and it has a slightly higher ground clearance, black plastic cladding across the wheel arches and side sills, emergency and warning light bars, and a surf board mounted on the roof. The exterior is finished in Matte yellow with red highlights across the lower portion, and red painted graphics are also there.

The only changes made to the interior are the bright yellow and red accents across the dashboard, and bright yellow inserts with red contrast stitching on the seats. Brabus has also removed the rear bench seat to install a metal carrier that can house medical care kits, oxygen tank, floatation devices and a loudspeaker.

The standard Smart ForFour comes with a 999 cc inline three-cylinder engine that generates 71 PS of power at 6,000 rpm and 91 Nm of torque at 2,850 rpm. Another option is a smaller, but more powerful, 898 cc inline three-cylinder mill with turbocharging producing 90 PS of power at 5,500 rpm and 135 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. The two engines are paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed dual clutch transmission.
