Smart BRABUS “15th anniversary edition” showcased at IAA 2017 – Live
Engineer-turned-motorcycle journalist. I’m a sucker for cruising down the highways, and twisties in the hills.
The smart BRABUS “15th-anniversary edition” has been showcased at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The smart BRABUS gets exclusive exterior and interior updates, in celebration of 15 years of collaboration between the two brands. The front spoiler and side skirts are painted in “anniversary silver”, with contrasting element painted in a high-gloss deep black. The rear diffuser, alloy wheels and the roof-edge spoiler are also finished in high-gloss deep black. The mirror covers get carbon fibre look, and there’s a third brake light with smoked glass effect. The cabriolet variant gets a tailor made soft top in brown.
The anniversary edition models are based on the equipment line Passion. Additionally, they also feature a tailor made leather package in “espresso”. Highlights of this package include BRABUS Xclusive sports seats in brown leather with a silver seam and special “anniversary diamond” quilting; “15th Anniversary” is embroidered into the head restraints; door centre panels, steering wheel and dashboard in brown leather with silver seam; tailor made velour floor mats with “15th Anniversary” embroidery and brown leather edging.
The smart BRABUS “15th anniversary edition” is available as a fortwo coupe and cabrio; and with a choice of two turbocharged engines. The 898cc inline three-cylinder engine puts out 90 PS of power at 5,500 rpm and 135 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm. The more powerful variant of this engine pushes out 109 PS of power at 5,750 rpm and 170 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. There’s a 60 PS, 160 Nm electric variant available as well, but only in the fortwo coupe guise.
150 copies of the special model will be produced. It is available to order with immediate effect, with the first vehicles due to arrive at dealers towards the end of the year.
