Renault has revealed several design features of the upcoming Captur via teaser videos. The India-spec Renault Captur will be officially unveiled on 22 September.
The features revealed include a studded chrome grille, Pure Vision full LED headlamps, LED tail lamp signature, and split-spoke two-tone alloy wheels. While the overall design of the India-bound Captur is identical to the model in Brazil and Russia (sold as Renault Kaptur), there are subtle differences to the detailing. The chrome grille is unique to our market as the Brazil-spec and Russia-spec models get a gloss black finish.
Also, only the Russia-spec Renault Kaptur EXTREME variant launched last month gets full LED headlamps accompanied by Audi-like dynamic turn indicators. There will be C-shape LED DRLs on offer as well. Brazil-spec Captur gets projector units, which will feature on the lower-end trims in India. The LED tail lamp signature and alloy wheel design are the same as the other two markets.
The Renault Captur used for promotional activities appears to be finished in a dual tone Cayenne Orange and black paint scheme. Expect Renault to offer the Captur in more dual tone shades along with multiple customisation plans.
Engine options will include a 1.5 L K9K diesel from the Renault Duster in its 110 PS guise. However, with Renault aiming to position the Captur as a more premium product, the availability of a 6-speed AMT is unclear at the moment. The Duster's 1.5 L H4K petrol with an optional CVT is also likely to feature.
As always, pricing will be a key component for bookings, and according to a report from earlier this month, it will cost more than the Duster owing to its relatively more premium positioning. Estimates place the starting price of the Renault Captur at around INR 10 lakhs (ex-showroom). Top-end models could easily touch INR 14 lakhs (ex-showroom), locking horns with the Hyundai Creta.
