Unveiled in July, the Hyundai i30 Fastback has been showcased at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The distinct design element of the Hyundai i30 Fastback is at the rear: the sloping coupe-like roofline ends in a boot-lid spoiler. The teardrop-shaped rear gets a muscular shoulder-line, and sleek tail lights, which reiterates the car’s sporty character. The front portion of the car is identical to the i30 but gets a subtly redesigned front bumper.

The roof has been lowered by 25 mm for the distinct look and enhanced aerodynamics, and the height stands at 1,425 mm. At a length of 4,455 mm, it 115 mm longer than the Hyundai i30. Thanks to the fastback design, the boot space is up from the i30’s 395 litres to 450 litres in this car.

The car gets an optional eight-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Hyundai also offers a free seven-year subscription to Live Services, which gives out updated information about weather, traffic, speed cameras and online searches for points of interest. The i30 fastback is available in twelve exterior colours and three interior colour options: Oceanids Black, Slate Grey and the new Merlot Red.

The car comes with two petrol engines- 120 PS 1.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged three-cylinder and 140 PS 1.4-litre T-GDI turbocharged four-cylinder mill. The 1.4-litre variant comes with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual clutch unit. The 1-litre model gets a 6-speed manual gearbox only. For increased efficiency, the two engines feature Integrated Stop and Go (ISG) system as standard. A 110 PS/136 PS 1.6-litre turbocharged diesel engine will join the powertrain line-up later. Hyundai will offer the two diesel variants in 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT.

In safety, the car gets Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC), Blind Spot Detector (BSD), Rear-Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Speed Limit Information Function (SLIF) and High Beam Assist (HBA). The car will go on sale in Europe in early 2018.
