BMW 6 Series GT showcased at IAA 2017 - Live

The BMW 6 Series GT has been showcased at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Here are the live images of the car, which is scheduled to be launched in November 2017.

The BMW 6 Series GT is the successor of the 5-series GT. Its underpinnings is the CLAR rear-wheel drive platform, and is up to 150 kg lighter than its predecessor. The 6 Series GT is 5,091 mm long, 1,902 mm wide and 1,538 mm tall, and the wheelbase stands at 3,070 mm. Exterior highlights include adaptive LED headlights with LED DRLs, 21-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights and active rear spoiler.

Inside, the car gets an iDrive system with a 10.25-inch touchscreen and tile-style control pads for intuitive operation. There’s a four-zone automatic climate control and front seats with ventilation and massage function as well. Further appointments are the electrically adjustable comfort rear seats and LED mood lighting. The optional Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System features a fully active 10-channel amplifier with an output of 1,400 watts, plus dynamic sound equalizing and 16 partially illuminated speakers. The 610-litre boot space is expandable to 1,800 litres by folding the rear seats.

The BMW 6 Series comes in 630i, 640i, 640i xDrive, 640d and 640d xDrive variants. The 630i model has a 2.0-litre inline four petrol engine producing 258 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The 640i and 640i xDrive draw power from a 3.0-litre, inline six petrol engine which outputs 340 hp of power and 450 Nm of torque. The 630d and 630d xDrive get a 3.0-litre inline six diesel engine that’s good for 265 hp of power and 620 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard to all the variants.

In Germany, the price of the BMW 6 Series GT starts from €62,300. Its Indian launch will take place at Auto Expo 2018 in February. BMW India will assemble the 6 Series GT at the Chennai plant.
