15,000 bookings for 2017 Hyundai Verna recorded in India - Report

HMIL launched the 2017 Hyundai Verna on 22 August, and had received more than 7,000 bookings by the last day of the month. Less than a month later, the number of bookings have increased over two-fold to 15,000, as per a report from Autocar India.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna was launched with prices ranging from INR 7,99,900-12,61,900 (ex-showroom Delhi). These prices were introductory, and a hike was planned once bookings reach 20,000 units. However, because of the unanticipated GST revision, Hyundai had to increase the prices much earlier. Now, the prices start at INR 7,99,990 (ex-showroom Delhi) and go up to INR 12,87,990 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Hyundai offers the 2017 Verna with 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol and 1.6-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine options. The petrol engine develops 123 PS at 6,400 rpm and 15.4 kg.m (151.02 Nm) of torque at 4,850 rpm. The diesel engine produces 128 PS at 4,000 rpm and 26.5 kg.m (259.88 Nm) of torque from 1,500-3,000 rpm. 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic are the transmission choices.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna is available in 12 different configurations. Swept back projector headlamps with LED DRL, projector fog lamps, 5-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels, 2-piece LED tail lamps and shark fin antenna are the car’s key exterior features. Inside, the Honda City rival has a dual-tone beige & black colour scheme. Leather is used for the door centre trim, as well as the steering wheel and gear knob wrapping. Other highlights include 3.5-inch driver information display, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink, Arkamys sound system, ventilated seats and cruise control.
