A couple of images of the Ford EcoSport 2017 without camouflage have surfaced online. These spy shots were captured by an autoX reader in Kochi, Kerala. As the launch nears, sightings of the EcoSport facelift intensify, and this is the second instance in less than a week that an undisguised test mule is spotted out on public roads.

2017 Ford EcoSport Spied Undisguised in lower grade trim
The base Ambiente trim of the current model does without fog lamps and chrome applique on the grille leading us to believe this is likely the mid-level Trend variant.

The test car here draped in Panther Black colour appears to be a lower grade trim of the new Ford EcoSport. Judging by the presence of conventional halogen headlamps, chrome detailing on the grille, and wheel covers, we reckon this could be the Trend trim.

Much of the design changes Ford has made to the EcoSport are restricted to its nose. A new single piece grille flanked by broader headlamps dominates the front. The turn indicators have moved to the bumper alongside the fog lamps. Top-end Titanium trims will feature projector headlamps with LED DRLs or pilot lamps and 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels as well. The only other discernable difference on the new EcoSport is a restyled spare wheel cover.

The interior of the 2017 Ford EcoSport will gain a new dashboard. The redesigned centre console houses an 8-inch touchscreen unit. It acts as the interface for the SYNC 3 enabled infotainment system. Other changes include a new steering wheel design and updated instrument console.

The new Ford EcoSport 2017 will become the first product to feature an all-new engine from the Dragon family. It will get a new 1.5 L three cylinder unit replacing the current 1.5 L four cylinder Ti-CVT petrol. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be offered. The Ford EcoSport diesel will continue to employ the 1,498 cc TDCi motor.

The EcoSport will be Ford's third product to gain the SYNC 3 infotainment system in India after the Endeavour and Mustang.

A festive season launch for the 2017 Ford EcoSport is widely reported. Certain media outlets claim deliveries will commence in November. The company is yet to make an announcement regarding the Ford EcoSport facelift launch in India.
