After creating a rendering of the front fascia of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz facelift, IAB's automotive illustrator Shoeb Kalania has generated a speculative render of the rear. The visual upgrades are borrowed from the first spy shots of the updated 2017 Suzuki Alivio.

Visual differences between the current Ciaz and the facelift could include restructured tail light clusters and new rear bumper.

While the big exterior updates are concentrated in the front section, the tail gets changes that are still noticeable. The Maruti Ciaz facelift render has re-profiled tail lamp clusters with larger stop lamps and narrower turn indicators and reverse lights. The bumper loses the deep set black cutouts for a cleaner dual tone appearance. There is a conservative surfacing of chrome over the number plate area and around the reflectors.

In comparison, the nose of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz facelift is likely to get unmissable changes like a bigger, single frame grille with bevelled upper edges and chrome finished louvres. Also, expect the car to receive new alloy wheels and, possibly, new paint shades as well. The cabin has already been spotted receiving updates, expect upholstery and trim also to witness changes.

The cabin of the Ciaz could gain new seat upholstery, a revised instrument console with a colour MID and changes to the interior trim.

Media reports speculate the Ciaz facelift will swap the 1.3 L DDiS200 diesel for a 1.5 L unit designed and developed Maruti Suzuki. The bigger displacement should help MSIL put customer complaints of poor in-gear acceleration to rest and also bring the Ciaz at par with the Honda City and Hyundai Verna in the performance department.
