The Dacia Duster (Renault Duster) enters its second generation with a full redesign next month at the IAA 2017. Autoplus reader Florian has spotted the 2018 Dacia Duster on test with the LED DRLs turned on in France.
Redesigned headlights, radiator grille inserts, bigger and squarish tail lights and restyled bumpers with revised skid plates are the changes on the 2018 Dacia Duster.
On the inside, expect the new design 4-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Dacia Sandero. The interior will see a revamp with the air vents moving to the middle of the centre console, under the infotainment system display. The dashboard, door panels, switchgear and HVAC are expected to feel and look more upmarket. The infotainment system could upgrade to support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The second-gen Dacia Duster continues on the B0/Logan platform. The low-cost platform is instrumental in the SUV’s aggressive pricing. To keep the cost in check, the redesigned Duster may not opt for advanced powertrain technologies, probably limiting itself to the 1.2-litre TCe unit. In India, where the market launch is not anticipated before 2019, the 1.5-litre H4K engine should continue. Elsewhere, the 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre engines may soldier on. The new 1.6-litre dCi diesel engine, a version of the Kadjar’s 1.6-litre dCi engine, reportedly replaces the 1.5-litre dCi option overseas.
In a recent interview, Dacia’s sales boss shot down the rumoured Duster 7-seat version. Customers will have to wait at least until January 2018 for the showroom launch of the new Duster. The UK launch is expected in summer next year.
