The Chengdu International Auto Show marked the debut and launch of the 2017 Hyundai ix25 (CN-spec Hyundai Creta facelift). As reported earlier, the facelift features exterior updates and a rejigged engine lineup.

The changes to the ix25 could trickle down to the Hyundai Creta with the introduction of the facelift.

A winged bumper design along with enlarged top corners of the grille extending to the headlamps make up the updated front fascia of the 2017 Hyundai ix25. Like the China-spec Verna, the ix25 does not get the 'cascading' grille, which has become a signature design element of Hyundai products. The louvres are finished in black while chrome finish borders the single frame hexagonal grille. The LED DRLs have moved to towards the bottom of the bumper below the fog lamp housing.

New tail lamp graphics and a stepped rear bumper design round off the changes made to the rear. The Hyundai ix25 facelift also gets a dual pipe exhaust tip. There are subtle differences between the 2017 Hyundai ix25 and the Creta sold in Brazil in the way the headlamp and bumper have been laid out. The rear bumper is also quite different, most notably around the reflector/rear fog lamp area. However, it wears the same split spoke alloy wheels as the Brazilian-spec Creta.

The interior of the ix25 showcased at the Chengdu Auto Show dons a black theme. It gets red highlights around the air conditioning vents and red stitching on the seats and gear lever console. The centre console has been tweaked ever so slightly. The hazard light switch moves to a position above the touchscreen replacing the digital clock.

The 2017 Hyundai ix25 drops the 2.0 L petrol and gains a 1.4 turbo petrol.

For the 2017 model year, the ix25 drops the 2.0 L petrol. The 1.6 L petrol is retained while a new 1.4 L turbocharged petrol with a maximum power of 103 kW (130 hp) and peak torque of 211 Nm has been added. The 2017 Hyundai ix25 is priced between 10.98 million and 15.28 million CNY.

According to media reports, a facelift of the Hyundai Creta is due next year in India. It could carry changes similar to the 2017 Hyundai ix25.
