The Tata Nexon will debut a more powerful 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron engine and an all-new 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine.

The Tata Nexon's production is already underway at the Ranjangaon plant, where it posed for the first official photo this week. First showcased as a concept at Auto Expo 2014, the Nexon will reach the dealerships in August to compete with the B-SUVs like the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and Maruti Vitara Brezza, as well as the Hyundai Creta. The fourth model making use of the IMPACT design language measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,811 mm in width and 1,607 mm in height, has a wheelbase of 2,498 mm and offers a ground clearance of 200 mm.

The Tata Nexon debuts a more powerful 1.2-litre Revotron engine, as well as an all-new 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engine. The turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine develops 110 PS at 5,000 rpm and 170 Nm of torque from 2,000-4000 rpm. The turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine produces 110 PS at 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm of torque from 1,500-2,750 rpm. A new 6-speed manual transmission is standard, and an AMT option will reportedly follow. The Nexon has drive mode selection, which is a first for the segment. The user will have the choice of three modes, namely Eco, City and Sport.

Projector headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights and roof rails are among the Tata Nexon's exterior highlights. On the inside, the mini-SUV would get engine start-stop button, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, adjustable rear headrests and infotainment system with 6.5-inch floating display, navigation and voice command. Dual airbags, rear parking sensors, reverse parking sensors, ABS, EBD and CSC should form the safety and driver assistance features.
