To launch for sale later this year.

IAB reader Varun Varadarajan has snapped two test mules of the Mahindra Jeeto van testing along with a Tata Magic Iris (its closest rival) in Chennai. It is expected to launch for sale this fiscal year.

From spy shots, we can confirm that the Mahindra Jeeto van is bigger and has a longer wheelbase than the Tata Magic Iris. Like the latter, it has tarpaulin covers for the second-row windows and rear windscreen, while the third row has fixed glass windows in one of the test mules, while the other has a tarpaulin cover which is the basic trim.

One of the prototypes is also finished in the Jeeto's Ultramarine Blue exterior colour, while other colours that could be on offer include Diamond White, Sunrise Red, Mango Yellow and Premium Beige. Like the Jeeto pick up, the passenger application could also come equipped with the ‘Digisense’ connected vehicle platform for cloud-based vehicle tracking, engine diagnostics, route planning, breakdown assistance and Geo fencing features.

Power will come from the Jeeto pick up’s single-cylinder water-cooled m_Dura 625 cc engine diesel paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox, which produces 16 hp and 38 Nm of torque. It's unclear if a CNG variant will be made available for the Jeeto van.

The Jeeto van will be manufactured at Mahindra's plant in Zaheerabad, Telangana, where the company recently opened an extension of the facility that increases the overall plant capacity to 140,000 units per year.
