The Yamaha Crux Rev is the first product developed for the African market.
Yamaha has launched the Yamaha Crux Rev in Kenya. The motorcycle is exported from India and has been priced at KES 107,600 (USD 1,038).
At the heart of the Yamaha Crux Rev is the 110 cc four-stroke, air-cooled, mill coupled to a 4-speed gearbox. The output figures are expected to be the same as the Yamaha Saluto RX retailed in India which produces 7.5 PS of maximum power at 7,000 rpm and 8.5 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. Yamaha Kenya claims the bike can complete a distance of about 70 km in 1L of petrol.
The powertrain of the Yamaha Crux Rev gets Yamaha’s Blue Core technology which is claimed as a technology that increases fuel efficiency without compromising power. Yamaha also claims that the Yamaha Crux Rev is 18 percent more fuel efficient than the existing offering. It is positioned higher than the existing Crux and gets a redesigned fuel tank.
The seat and the grabrail-carrier unit remain the same and the exhaust canister is new with a black finish. The Yamaha Crux Rev also gets the option of spoke and alloy wheels. Brakes include drum units at both ends.
The Yamaha Crux Rev has been targeted primarily towards Boda Boda (bike taxi) riders.
