2017 Jeep Compass variants revealed ahead of August launch - Report

CarToq has acquired the variant walkaround and equipment list of the Jeep Compass SUV, ahead of its launch in August. It will sell in three main grades: Sport, Longitude and Limited, with the latter two having optional sub-grades.

The Jeep Compass Sport is the entry level version, which comes equipped with halogen headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, electrically folding mirrors, electric park brake, all-black interior, 5-inch Uconnect infotainment system, all-four disc brakes, dual airbags, ABS, EBD and TCS. Colour choices for all models include Exotica Red, Brilliant Black, Minimal Grey, Hydro Blue and Vocal White.

The Longitude grade adds 17-inch alloy wheels, front and rear fog lamps, Sandstorm interior, rear parking sensors, keyless go and push-button start. The Longitude (O) sub-grade gets projector headlamps, black roof rails, 7-inch U connect touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and dual-zone climate control also.

In addition to the equipment of Longitude (O), the Limited grade will add LED tail lights, Ski Grey interior, leather steering wheel and seats and front side and curtain airbags (4x4). The range-topping Compass Limited (O) will exclusively come with Bi-Xenon headlamps and gloss black roof.

The 2017 Jeep Compass measures 4,398 mm in length, 1,819 mm in width, 1,667 mm in height, has a wheelbase of 2,636 mm and a ground clearance of 178 mm. It will have two engine options to offer: 1.4-litre petrol and 2.0-litre Multijet diesel. The turbocharged petrol engine produces over 160 hp and 250 Nm of torque, while the turbocharged diesel engine develops over 170 hp and 350 Nm of torque.

Transmission choices include 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The diesel model will get the Selec-Terrain traction management system and Jeep Active Drive four-wheel drive system exclusive to the Limited grades.

The 2017 Jeep Compass will go on sale in India in August 2017. Exports of the right-hand drive version will commence in Q4 2017 (October-December 2017) to markets like Japan, UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore and Indonesia.
