Honda Monkey 125 concept makes its world premiere in Vietnam

Honda Monkey 125 concept is based on the Honda MSX 125.

Honda Vietnam has showcased the Honda Monkey 125 concept at the 2017 Vietnam Motorcycle Show. The retro styled bike pays homage to the Monkey bike which is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in Japan.

With a patent image leaked earlier in September 2016, the Honda Monkey 125 concept remains true to the iconic design and uses the frame of the Honda MSX 125. The bike is suspended over dual springs in the rear and upside down forks up front. The bike is shod with Maxxis Tortuga tyres of the 120/80-12 specification at both ends.

The Honda Monkey 125 concept is a single seater vehicle with a mix of modern and retro design. The headlamp is circular and gets LEDs just like the taillamp. The instrumentation pod is shaped in an old-fashioned manner but gets an LCD. The fuel tank has metallic blue, gold and silver tones.

The 125 cc SOHC, fuel injection mill will be shared with the Honda MSX125 and gets a 4-speed gearbox. The air-cooled engine is capable of producing 9.38 PS of maximum power at 7,000 rpm and 10.6 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm.

The Honda Monkey 125 is also expected to make its way to Europe, US, Japan and other countries in the ASEAN region.
