Yamaha R15 v3.0 showcased at Vietnam Motorcycle Show

The Yamaha R15 v3.0 is the first bike in the segment to gets a slipper clutch.

The Yamaha R15 v3.0 has been showcased at the Vietnam Motorcycle Show. The entry level sports motorcycle was first unveiled in Indonesia in January 2017.

The Yamaha R15 v3.0 gets a 155.1 cc VVA mill which produces 19.31 PS of power and 14.7 Nm of torque.

The Yamaha R15 v3.0 is a significant upgrade over the previous generation model. The bike gains a completely new sportier look with significant mechanical changes. The twin headlamp setup now gets LEDs while the upside down fork up front will probably help the ride be sportier. The bike now tips the scales at 137 kg which is just a kilo gain. The front brake gets a 282 mm disc while the size of the rear disc has not been made official.

The new 155.1 cc liquid cooled powerplant gets Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology which help the Yamaha R15 v3.0 produce enough grunt even at low engine speeds. Coupled to a 6-speed gearbox the engine is capable of producing 19.31 PS of maximum power and 14.7 Nm of peak torque.

The fuel tank in the 2017 Yamaha R15 v3.0 gets a 1-liter lower 11-litre capacity. Colour options include Racing Blue, Matte Black and Matte Red.

New LED headlamps in the Yamaha R15 v3.0 will prove more useful than the halogen setup in the R15 v2.0.

The Yamaha R15 v3.0 is expected to be priced at around VND 100,000,000. IAB understands that the launch of the Yamaha R15 v3 in India is far out.
