All-new Maruti Dzire to go on sale on 16 May 2017.

The 2017 Maruti Dzire features an evolutionary design with proportions similar to those of the previous generation model, meaning that it is a typically odd sub-4 metre sedan. IAB's automotive illustrator has created a rendering to show how the 2017 Maruti Dzire would have looked if it had a proper boot like a regular global B-segment sedan.

The 2017 Maruti Dzire could have had a longer version with a bigger boot for the export markets, provided if there was enough demand for the car.

The Maruti Dzire could have had a proper boot, like the first generation model (Maruti Swift Dzire) did, but the company wanted to keep it a sub-4 metre sedan for tax benefits and to avoid cannibalization with the Maruti Ciaz.

The Ford Figo's sedan version sold in India is 3,995 metre-long and offers 359 litres of boot space, while the international-spec, built in India and sold in South Africa measures 4,254 metres in length and offers 445 litres of boot space. Suzuki too could use this strategy for its export markets, although its significantly lesser global presence and capacity constraints in the Indian factories may not motivate it to do so.

The 2017 Maruti Dzire measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,515 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. The redesigned model is 40 mm wider and has a 20 mm longer wheelbase compared to the outgoing model. The ground clearance, however, has gone down 7 mm to 163 mm.

The 2017 Maruti Dzire is available with the 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 84.3 PS and 115 Nm of torque and the 1.3-litre diesel engine that develops 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual.
