The Maruti S-Cross was introduced in India in August 2015 as the company's flagship model and brought with it Maruti's premium sales channel NEXA. About 20 months after its arrival, the model's sales tally has crossed 50,000 units.

About 46,000 of the S-Cross were sold in India, and the rest exported.

The 50,000 sales figure was obtained from data released by SIAM, and the reason Maruti Suzuki has not made an announcement is that not all 50,000 India-made units were sold locally. About 46,000 units were sold in India, and the rest was shipped overseas.

The India-made S-Cross faced some challenges in the local market due to pricing, and in response, Maruti Suzuki had cut prices by up to INR 2 lakh, shortly after the launch through NEXA outlets. The company will be trying to set things right with the introduction of the facelifted S-Cross, which reportedly is out this festive season.

The Maruti S-Cross is in available Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha trim levels. Noteworthy features include HID headlamps with LED position lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, 7-inch SMARTPLAY touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and navigation, reverse parking camera, a soft-touch dashboard, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchorages are some of the key features of the Maruti S-Cross.

The Maruti S-Cross is available with two engine options, both courtesy Fiat: DDiS 200 and DDiS 320. The DDiS 200 is a 1.3-litre diesel engine that produces 66 kW (88.47 hp) and 200 Nm of torque and is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The DDiS 320 is a 1.6-litre diesel engine that develops 88 kW (117.96 hp) and 320 Nm of torque and sends power to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
