Honda’s new sub-4 metre crossover starts at INR 7.75 lakh.

The Honda WR-V was launched in India on 16 March 2017 and has received a great initial response from the market. According to a new report from The Economic Times based on info shared by its internal sources, Honda Cars India has received over 7,000 bookings for the Honda WR-V in just over three weeks from launch. Honda dispatched 3,833 units of the car in March to dealers.

The Honda WR-V marks Honda’s entry into the sub-4 metre crossover segment in the Indian market. Developed essentially for Brazil and India, the Honda WR-V is based on the Honda Jazz and competes with the Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Mahindra TUV300.

The Honda WR-V measures 3,999 mm in length, 1,734 mm in width and 1,601 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,555 mm. It has 363 litres of boot space. Two engine options are available: 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. The four-cylinder petrol engine produces 90 PS and 110 Nm of torque and is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The four-cylinder diesel engine develops 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque and is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. Unlike the Jazz, the WR-V doesn’t have a CVT option.

The Honda WR-V is available in two grades: S and VX. LED daytime running lights, silver skid plates, 16-inch gunmetal-finish alloy wheels, electric sunroof (segment-first), 7.0-inch DIGIPAD capacitive touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation, MirrorLink and voice recognition, automatic climate control with touch control panel, push start/stop button, keyless entry and cruise control are some of the key features of the WR-V. On the safety front, ABS with EBD and dual front airbags are standard, while the VX grade even gets multi-view rear camera.

HCIL is reportedly planning to introduce a 1.5L petrol variant for the WR-V.
