Will likely import it from Japan.
Suzuki Australia has announced that it will launch the 2017 Suzuki Swift in June 2017. The company will reveal local pricing and other details closer to launch.
The 2017 Suzuki Swift is the Japanese automaker’s latest addition to its range of hatchbacks and will compete with the Mazda2. The new generation model rides on the light and rigid Heartect platform. Thanks to the new platform and other weight reduction enhancements, the hatchback is now 120 kg lighter.
The 2017 Suzuki Swift is 3,840 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,500 mm/1,525 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. It is available with the K12C 1.2-litre VVT naturally aspirated engine that produces 91 PS and 118 Nm of torque and the K10C 1.0-litre VVT turbocharged engine that develops 102 PS and 150 Nm of torque. Both engines are available with mild-hybrid tech.
All-new Swift buyers get to choose from 5-speed manual transmission, 6-speed automatic transmission and continuously variable transmission. A four-wheel drive system is available in the latter.
Full LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, pillar-mounted rear door handles, 4.2-inch TFT LCD multi-information display, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink, Dual Sensor Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control are some of the noteworthy features of the 2017 Suzuki Swift.
Suzuki Australia hasn’t announced the port of import for the 2017 Suzuki Swift. It imports the Suzuki Baleno from India, but sources the Suzuki Ignis from Japan. However, with the Gujarat plant in India set to commence production of the new generation model only in October 2017, it’s obvious that Australia will get the vehicle from Sagara, Japan.
