The sixth-gen Mercedes S-Class arrived in 2013 and is about to get a mid-cycle makeover soon. The 2017 Mercedes S-Class will get several visual tweaks with the facelift, including new bumpers, revised radiator grille and tweaked headlights and tail lights. On the inside, Mercedes-Benz should refresh its flagship saloon with new trim and upholstery choices, besides upgraded tech for more comfort and convenience.

The facelifted Mercedes S-Class features a newly designed multi-function steering wheel, a revised Distronic cruise control system with a new autonomous driving function and upgraded Comand Online infotainment system with mapping data sourced from Here. Along with semi-autonomous driving, the new S-Class will also offer the convenience of parking the car using an app on a smartphone.

Recent reports say that the 2017 Mercedes S-Class should likely arrive with the same engines as the current model's, albeit with minor improvements related to fuel economy and CO2 emissions. However, previous reports have said that the facelifted Mercedes S-Class' engine options will include the OM 656 2.9-litre six-cylinder diesel unit and the M 176 4.0-litre V8 petrol unit. There's also speak of the M 256 six-cylinder and the M 264 four-cylinder petrol engines with a 48-volt electrical system. The facelift will likely see the S550 getting discontinued in favour of a revived S560 nameplate.
