This is the first instance that Skoda's mid-size SUV was spotted on Indian soil, ahead of its launch in the festive season of 2017.

The Skoda Kodiaq will launch in India later this year. Like its smaller siblings, the Kodiaq will be assembled from CKD kits at the company's plant in Aurangabad, to keep prices competitive. Speaking of prices, expect the Kodiaq to range between INR 24 Lakhs - 30 Lakhs (ex-showroom), to rival the Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.

The exterior comprises of Skoda's characteristic angular lines, butterfly grille, sleek two-tier headlamps, and LED taillamps. It measures 4,697 mm long, 1,882 mm wide, 1,667 mm tall and has a 2,791 mm wheelbase. Inside, the Kodiaq is the first 7-seater from Skoda, offering a conventional pair of foldable seats in the third row as an option. It has a boot volume of 720L (with the third row folded), which can be increased to 2,065L with the second row folded.

Some of the features expected for the India-spec model are the latest Skoda Connect touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, hands-free tailgate operation, an umbrella tucked inside the doors, dual-zone automatic climate control, start/stop button on the steering column, power-operated driver and passenger seats.

For the Indian market, the engine lineup is likely to include a 1.4 TSI 4-cyl petrol engine with 155 PS and a 2.0 TDI engine producing 190 PS. A DSG automatic gearbox could be standard on both models, while an AWD system with Skoda's Adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control may be exclusive to the diesel variant.
