The two-stroke two-wheeler market has been nascent thanks to the ever tightening emission norms.

KTM has officially confirmed a revolutionary advancement in the world of two-strokes. Enduro motorcycles of the 2018 model year will bear a two-stroke fuel injected mill. The first two motorcycles with this technology will include the 2018 KTM 250 EXC TPI and KTM 300 EXC TPI.

These new two-stroke fuel injected KTM 250 EXC TPI and KTM 300 EXC TPI will offer significant benefits over the carburetted motorcycles. Not only will the motorcycles have reduced fuel consumption but will also no longer need pre-mixed fuel.

Mr Joachim Sauer, Product Marketing Manager, KTM, said

We have been developing 2-stroke fuel injection for some time, and our goal was to create competitive motorcycles with all the benefits of fuel injection, while fitting into our READY TO RACE mantra. In Europe the bikes will arrive at the dealer floors in early summer. In the USA and Canada, the new 2018 KTM 250 XC-W TPI will be available in very limited quantities in late fall.

Called as Transfer Port Ignition (TPI), it will initially be available only on three motorcycles. KTM also claims a completely new experience in terms of power delivery and rideability.
